SVDP is Enhancing Support with Our New Digital Resource Handbook
We are excited to announce the launch of our new digital resource handbook, designed to complement the existing 211 tools utilized by the United Way of Greater Houston. While the 211 system remains our primary referral tool, many of our Vincentians still appreciate the convenience of hard copy resources during home visits. This handbook is crafted with their needs in mind, providing a quick and accessible reference guide to essential services and support options available in our community.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Laura Rodriguez, a graduate student designated to complete this project specifically, this bonus resource handbook is now ready and can be seen below. It serves as a valuable companion for Vincentians as they navigate their home visit interactions and seek to provide comprehensive support. By integrating this resource into our toolkit, we are ensuring that every Vincentian has the information they need at their fingertips. We believe this will empower our Vincentians and ultimately lead to more effective assistance for those in need within our community.
Established in 1871, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a 501(c)3 faith-based, non-profit organization with the mission to grow spiritually through person-to-person service to all in need in our community. The Society serves 10 counties throughout the greater Houston area. Through a network of more than 50 parish-based chapters, called “Conferences” that have a combined total of 1,700 volunteers, called “Vincentians.” Vincentians respond to the needs of our neighbors through four main pillars. Our work includes Homelessness Prevention, Basic Needs, Resiliency Programs, and Disaster Relief.
