Deanna sought help from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. At 53 years old, she was a single woman dealing with health issues, job struggles, and maintaining her home.
She moved into Section 8 housing, which covered her monthly rent. However, Deanna had to pay a security deposit of $1,050, divided into five monthly payments of $210.
Shortly after moving in, she was diagnosed with a nodule in her left lung, which led to numerous medical appointments and affected her work and income.
The resulting financial strain led to her car being repossessed, leaving her unable to get to work. Deanna found herself caught in a "snowball effect" of escalating problems. She contacted our St. Monica Conference, seeking help to pay three months of overdue security deposit fees.
The Vincentians at St. Monica Conference pledged $630 to cover her overdue security deposit fees, providing Deanna with much-needed relief. She then secured a job as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with a residential health facility. Deanna is feeling great, staying under her doctor's care, and looking forward to returning to work.
I am grateful for the support I received from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the Vincentians at St. Monica's. When I was facing overwhelming challenges, they stepped in and provided the financial assistance I desperately needed. Thanks to their help—I was able to focus on my health and secure a new job. Their support has given me hope and a fresh start.
This story demonstrates the power of community support and the impact of St. Vincent de Paul's commitment to helping those in need. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of individuals like Deanna, providing hope and stability during challenging times.
