At the heart of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is the Home Visit Program. This unique service gives Vincentians the opportunity to travel in pairs and visit our friends-in-need in their homes.
By visiting our friends-in-need, Vincentians experience first-hand the living conditions of a person in need. Although Vincentians are not case workers, they do undergo special training to learn how to interact with our friends-in-need. Vincentians promote the dignity of the person.
Once Vincentians enter the homes of our friends, Vincentians allow the Holy Spirit to guide them in their interaction with our friends. They open their hearts to the needs of the person and treat them with dignity.
Vincentians know that people who need help are financially limited. Therefore, Vincentians drive to them.
In 2019, Vincentians drove 363,000 unreimbursed miles, donated 174,000 volunteer hours, and completed 8,100 Home Visits.
