We are People Helping People.

At the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Galveston-Houston we are always seeking volunteers to donate time and/or talent. There are many ways that you can become involved with the Society. Volunteers at all levels of commitment are encouraged to become a part of our organization where, in most cases, you will have the benefit of seeing your efforts make a direct impact on a community that needs your support.

Why Volunteer?

  • Because all you need is the desire to help people.  We will provide all the training.
  • Because you can decide how much time you can give.
  • Because we are a society that supports one another.
  • Because we work diligently, confidentially and with dignity to help eliminate the root of the problems. This, we think, is of the most value to the people we help.
  • Because your efforts will make an impact.
  • Because all talent and time is appreciated.
  • Because together, we can impact not only one person or one family, but also generations to come.
  • Because you will be giving back to your own community, a growing community that needs support.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer at our Thrift Stores

Choosing to volunteer at one of our two retail thrift stores can be a rewarding experience where, as a volunteer, you can experience our mission at work. Here, you might be able to work directly with people in need as they shop for clothes or household items. You may even have the unique experience of hearing their stories. All work here is important and there is a two hour commitment needed to volunteer at one of our stores.  Find out how.

Organize a Volunteer Program at Your School or Office

As an organization, you have the capacity to mobilize a volunteer group that could have a huge impact on our organization, which is almost entirely volunteer-based. Learn more about how your school or office can participate.
