The After School Program and Summer Program will run in the hours after school and full days in the summer when school aged children are typically without adequate supervision. Active participation in the program activities will provide the children with little or no time to participate in inappropriate activities. The majority of juvenile crime occurs because of peer pressure and economic barriers. Involvement in the After School Program and Summer Program will help foster the traits of leadership, self-confidence, a sense of self-discipline, and a commitment to be successful. Children who demonstrate these characteristics will dramatically make a difference within their peer groups.
The St Vincent de Paul Village Program serves this community by attaining the following components:
Parental and Family Involvement: Supports the structure through family communication, the program maintains a structured environment through an outlined Family Action Plan.
Development: Assists families in the development of social relationships with peers and program representatives (school officials and community officials) through situations that will improve communication skills, anger management, and creative problem solving.
Cognitive Development: Enhances the understanding of rules, strategies, and abstract thinking.
